Brighton League 3-1 Mid-Sussex League (January 29, 2008)
The Brighton League representative team won their first match of the season, beating their Mid-Sussex counterparts 3-1 at Whitehawk FC on Tuesday night.
After going a goal behind, American Express's Mark O'Regan equalised before Ben Harding of Hanover put the Brighton League ahead. Electricity's John Peter made the game safe in the second half.
As well as Peter, Matt Evans and Dave Marsh also played in the match while George Carney managed the side.

INTERLEAGUE TROPHY: Congratulations to the Brighton League on wining their first match in the Sussex County Football League Inter League Cup
 
After going a goal down, against the run of play, in the 10th minute to the Mid Sussex League, the Brighton League were patient and fought back with two goals in two minutes. A shot from inside the box from Mark O’Regan (American Express) levelled the scores on 24 minutes. Spotting the Mid Sussex keeper off his line, a spectacular strike from 35 yards by Ben Harding (Hanover), made it 2-1 to the Brighton League after 25 minutes. Both teams had further chances in the first half, only to be foiled by the woodwork or good defending.In the second half, the Brighton League continued to put pressure on the Mid Sussex goal. The third goal came in the 67th minute after some great play in midfield by Tom Burton (American Express). A telling pass found John Peter (Brighton Electricity) on the edge of the box who slotted home.
