About Us
Brighton Electricity Football Club are an FA Charter Standard Club playing in the Brighton, Hove & District Premier Division. We play our home matches at Braypool and the Club Colours are Brown and White. We train at Preston Park during the summer and when the light fades during the winter, we train at Brighton University under the floodlights. Brighton Electricity also have links with both Brighton & Sussex Universities and over the last couple of seasons, there has been a strong influence from both Uni's. New players are always welcome to come along to training (providing your half decent) and if the coaching team think your good enough then we'll sign you up!
History
Brighton Electricity Football Club was originally formed in 1937 before disbanding due to WWII. It was reformed in 1964 and has played in the Brighton League ever since, climbing from Division 9 to the premier, winning many honours along the way. Last season, we finished 7th (out of 10) in the Brighton Premier Division which was disappointing as we beat all of the top three teams at some stage in the season. This season we are hoping for an improvement on this and with the squad we have assembled and our pre-season matches, things are looking promising.
Magic Moments
Over the years, Electricity have had some magic moments including winning numerous honours, both as a team and individually. However, arguably the most famous day in the history of the club was when former Tottenham, Liverpool, Wimbledon and England International John Scales turned out for the team to celebrate the launch of our new kit, which Scales' company BeSport designed, in the league match against Grenadier back in 2003. Three years later current player/manager George Carney was presented with the Football Volunteer Workforce Award 2006, at the FA Community Shield for work with Brighton Electricity FC. A pre-match presentation with the likes of Trevor Brooking and Geoff Hurst took place on the Millenium Stadium pitch, followed up by VIP hopitality during the match.
